An exhibition of stone artefacts from Roman times to the late Middle Ages. Ideal for families Suitable for schools. The rich collection of the Museum of Archaeology includes nearly 160,000 rare items discovered across Slovakia dating from prehistory to the modern age and obtained through the museum's own archaeological field research. The permanent exhibition on the Ancient History of Slovakia, which covers the period from the late Stone Age to the end of the Middle Ages, includes archaeological discoveries that serve to highlight work activities and craft skills as well as social organizations, day-to-day life and the spiritual lives of our predecessors to a certain extent. The exposition creates a tangible link between exhibitions, complete with Braille text, making the exposition accessible for the visually impaired as well. Visitors can also make used of the portable audio equipment which provides audio information on specific periods from prehistory to the late Middle Ages and the individual expositions along the way. A lapidarium is installed in the exterior area of the curia's courtyard to display stone architectural details and a small architectural open-air museum is available on the castle hill above the museum with a reconstruction of a Slavic partial earthen shelter, the residences of our ancient predecessors. The structure is built using original materials without any nails and its internal structure corresponds to the knowledge obtained through archaeological discoveries made in the settlements of the day in the Middle Ages.
